I started out molding the top with modified Rice Crispy Treats. I added chunks of RC to the bottom- carving space for the center block and then molding them to resemble the real controller. (I compared to the real controller every step!) I rolled Saran Wrap into the spaces left and let it dry overnight. Before covering it with homemade fondant I filled in any gaps with a thin layer of fondant (smoothing the whole thing gently with my fondant roller) and I placed rings where I wanted ... VIEW POST
Fuzzy Chick Cake Pops
I made some Donut Hole Chicks and they were so fun that I knew the next step was cake pops. I think these are silly and so fun! Nice thing is that the decorating is super fast and easy. I always tell people to DOUBLE DIP their cake pops to get the nice round look (as well as no cracks) but for these chicks, dip your pops once and if its nicely set, it doesn't matter how perfectly round it is because you're covering it up! To make these simple chicks take your dry cake pop and using a Wilton ... VIEW POST
Best Icing for Decorating
The royal icing was easy. I love the way this icing whips up and is so smooth to work with. I have tried recipes with meringue powder before but they have a strange after taste. This is a recipe I got off a royal icing tutorial on Craftsy. 4 oz eggs whites (about 3 large eggs) 14 oz powdered sugar Instructions Place your egg whites and sugar in a stand mixer bowl, with a whip attachment connected to the mixer. Turn your mixer on low speed and mix until all of the sugar is incorporated. You ... VIEW POST
Jello Frosting
SO GOOD. Super Fast Super Easy. A friend told me about this recipe and I had to try it. One 3 oz package Jello any flavor (NOT sugar free) 2/3 cup sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 egg whiteput all these ingredients in a stand mixer with whip attatchment (I am going to try it in my Vita-Mix tonight too) then turn it on high adding 1/2 cup of BOILING water. Mix 5-7 minutes and enjoy! This is great on a cupcake, graham cracker and even tastes like it would go on top of regular jello. (Tastes a bit like ... VIEW POST
FROZEN!
To make Olaf- (I LOVED making him!!) I made 2 rice crispy rounds with THIS RECIPE and then pushed a Wilton Straw up through the center with enough sticking out of the top to support the head, and a little out the bottom so I could add the "feet" with a little more Rice Crispy. When I made the RC head I didn't add the overlapping lip, I knew I would just make that when I added the FONDANT. I covered the head and then body (doing each separately) with a thin layer of fondant to get rid of the ... VIEW POST
Chocolate Pretzel Trees
This is super easy and fun for a treat or a gift. I saw this idea on Pinterest but it just had the squiggle- not the triangle behind it, I added that to make it look a little more "tree like" and... a little more chocolate never hurts! You see in the picture above how easy these are- just line a cookie sheet with wax paper, melt your "melties" in a microwave safe bowl and then scoop them into a frosting bag or zip lock bag that you cut the corner off of. To decorate you can use mini m&ms or any ... VIEW POST
