This is SO easy! You just need a petal tip, any size works. Make your choice based on the size of the cake and how thick you want the frosting. Give your cake a nice crumb coat using the same color you will make the ribbons with. (That way you wont see white peeking through any spaces in your ribbon.) Hold your frosting bag with the tip straight down, fat side of the tip in towards the cake and thin side towards you. Then just moving back and forth up the side of the cake layer your ribbon. Peach Ruffle Cake & Cupcakes
This cake turned out so pretty. Mendi and her sister made some gorgeous flowers to go on cupcakes and wanted a cake to match. So I told them the sizes I needed and they supplied me with the flowers! When I make flowers like these I roll my gumpaste VERY thin, use 3 different sized circle cutters and then "ruffle" the top edges with my rounding tool. To support them as they dry I use circles of crumpled saran wrap (or tin foil) like a nest to set them in. I used the smooth frosting technique ... VIEW POST
Buttermilk Drizzle & Filling

The amount of time you cook the buttermilk mixture determines the thickness, less time gives you a lighter colored drizzle, more time gives you a darker caramel syrup. To use it as a filling I cook it until it is the color of a store bought caramel (stirring constantly.) Once it has cooled completely I mix it with my favorite butter cream or cream cheese frosting, ... VIEW POST

Lace Wedding Cake
I have always wanted to make a cake like this, but I could not find any molds that had cut outs delicate enough to get the look. I found some molds on Amazon and then took the time to cut out the shapes piece by piece. I used a sharp ended tool to help define the edges. Before putting the pieces on I used the smooth frosting technique found HERE. (These are the molds I used for this cake- Wholeport Fondant Lace Mold Fondant Mold Candy Mold Cake Decorating Molds and TANGCHU Soft Silicone ... VIEW POST
How to make a Swirl Cake
To make the "swirls" I used Wiltons White Melties because they work so much easier than royal icing. I always chill my cake before starting, that way if I make a mistake the chocolate hardens quickly and I can just pull it off and redo it! Remember the swirls do not have to be perfect, I like to have a few designs in mind or traced on a paper (or on my computer screen) and then after I have practiced with my chocolate on wax paper I get started on the cake, beginning in the back so my more ...
