This is that frosting that you look at the ingredients and think "what?" I had never heard of it until my friend Kristine brought it to me so I could use it on the cake I was making for her. I tried it and about swooned over. I am a frosting person- the frosting HAS to be good or I don't want the cake, in fact cake is just the vehicle to bring me the frosting and I love a good butter cream. This delicacy is not as sweet as typical butter cream and has an almost whipped cream consistency. I ... VIEW POST
Make your Own Cake Topper
There is no one that knows better than mom (or dad!) what a child would go nuts for. Personalizing your own cake makes it really memorable. My son Ty still loves looking at pictures of birthday cakes past and telling me "You made that for me." He does not see any of the imperfections and neither will your child. Making your own cake toppers is so much easier than it looks, once you have a basic form built with Rice Crispy the rest is just adding and taking away bits of fondant. I always find a ... VIEW POST
Guitar CC
These cupcakes were made with Homemade Fondant for everything except the black and red which I buy because coloring those dark colors is a mess :) I think using some silver dragees for accents really made these look "rock-n-roll" which was the goal for the client who ordered these for Pandora Radio! I cut out different guitar shapes with wax paper and used those as my guidelines. For exact instructions on how to make fondant that is perfect for decorating go HERE. ... VIEW POST
Puppy Cake
For this puppy cake I used square cakes that I cut into rectangles then added smaller square stacks to form the behind and head (not the feet) of the dog. I cut out triangles for the face and stacked them (frosting in between of course) to the height I wanted. (It looked like an Egyptian pyramid, all squares!) To get the rounded shape of the dog I smoothed out corners with my knife and to really fill in the places that needed some "puppy fat" I took some cake and crumbled it up, added some ... VIEW POST
How to Fill Cupcakes (perfectly!)
I have tried long frosting tips, baggies, and even just a spoon but using these syringes has made it so easy. I use an apple corer first, pressing in about an inch, then set the little piece of cupcake aside to place over the filled center later. I fill a sandwich bag with my filling- then clip one corner so I can squeeze it into the syringe (spooning it in takes a little longer.) Then I can use the syringe to fill my cupcakes perfectly, the measurements on it help me put exactly the right ... VIEW POST
Royal Icing
The royal icing was easy. I love the way this icing whips up and is so smooth to work with. I have tried recipes with meringue powder before but they have a strange after taste. This is a recipe I got off a royal icing tutorial on Craftsy. 4 oz eggs whites (about 3 large eggs) 14 oz powdered sugar Instructions Place your egg whites and sugar in a stand mixer bowl, with a whip attachment connected to the mixer. Turn your mixer on low speed and mix until all of the sugar is incorporated. You ... VIEW POST
