Bowling!

February 4, 2013

This was a hot theme this fall! Bowling parties are a lot of fun. To make the pins on the cake above I used Wiltons fondant instead of homemade fondant because I wanted them to dry quickly and really hold their shape on their own. To make the “alley” I make brown fondant and then added a bit of white fondant that I mixed ALMOST completely in, leaving a bit of a marbled look for the wood grain, then used a ruler and pressed gently for the lines. A fun cake to make!
The cake below I used rice crispy treat to make the pins because they were so large and would have been too heavy to be on the cake without a base support if I used straight fondant. They had a bit of a bumpy texture because of it, but the kids think they are so fun to eat!
