German Chocolate

September 24, 2013

I really really love German Chocolate Cake. I even love German CAROB cake (yes that is what I was fed growing up!) And as much as I love the Coconut Pecan frosting and could (and do) eat it with a spoon I just feel like GC Cake needs a little something so it isn’t quite so sweet and rich. I started adding a thin layer of whipped coconut filling (2 cups heavy whipping cream, one 3oz package of instant coconut pudding, blend until it starts to thicken) and I got so many raves that now I add it every time. Go HERE for my Coconut Pecan frosting recipe. But have a spoon ready! SO good!
(If you are using homemade frosting you can make a fabulous cake with just a cake mix or here is a great recipe from the Pioneer Woman.)
