How to make Ribbon Cakes

November 30, 2013

This is SO easy! You just need a petal tip, any size works. Make your choice based on the size of the cake and how thick you want the frosting. Give your cake a nice crumb coat using the same color you will make the ribbons with. (That way you wont see white peeking through any spaces in your ribbon.) Hold your frosting bag with the tip straight down, fat side of the tip in towards the cake and thin side towards you. Then just moving back and forth up the side of the cake layer your ribbon. You can mark your cake with vertical lines to help keep your rows a consistent size. Just try it, it’s easier than it seems!
