Mad Scientist

June 19, 2013

For everything on this Mad Scientist (except the red and black) I used homemade fondant and frosting. See “Tricks of the Trade” or go HERE for my favorite fondant recipe and instructions. The hair was going to take to long to roll by hand so I used a #12 Wilton tip and used frosting, just applying a little pressure and pulling up straight up to create the point. For the “atoms” I used toothpicks with little balls of fondant, putting them in one at a time at different heights. As I added them I sprayed a fine mist of water so that they would stick together. (For the red and black decorations I used Duff Brand to get the true deep colors.) I painted just a little luster dust on the “test tubes.” A fun cake to make!
