2014 is almost over! Literally in just a couple hours! It’s so hard to believe.
As usual this time of year I think about what I would resolve to do better if I actually MADE New Years Resolutions. My list of things I should have done better was starting to get (a lot) longer than the list of things I thought I did well. Maybe the not making resolutions thing isn’t working for me ;).
As I was thinking all this my family was taking our turn cleaning the church and in the chapel there are two carpeted steps on each side of the podium. Ben called to me and said “Mom watch!” then he walked down the two stairs without holding on to anything. I wish I had a picture of his face, he was so proud!! He thought that was SO awesome!!
I could have said “Ben you are almost 8- you should have been doing that 5 years ago!” But didn’t because I thought it WAS awesome and I know what it took to get him there! It later hit me that maybe that’s the way Heavenly Father looks at me, and all His children. Even while knowing our potential, and ALL our weaknesses, He always appreciates the effort and He understands the history perfectly.
Later that day at the park Ben climbed a little hill that from his perspective was huge. I think maybe that’s how it always is, I see my obstacle as monumental while Heavenly Father sees the perspective- that it’s just for my baby steps. So I stopped “listing” and decided my ONLY resolution this year is to keep plugging along and trying my best. I am so grateful for all the good, hard and happy this year has brought my family!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
XOXO
