Paint Splatter Cake

January 1, 2015

Be prepared for mess but these cakes are really fun to make. The first step is to use the Smooth Frosting technique and then chill your cake. I love this recipe HERE for Royal Icing, once I had it whipped up I put 1/2 cup of Icing in 6 different bowl. As I added the color (gel paste) I added a few drops of water at a time until it would drip down from the brush slowly & smoothly, like the actual texture of paint! I covered as much of my counter as I could with plastic and made sure I had something behind my cake that was tall enough to catch the splatter. I practiced a few times with my paint brush (I used a soft flexible one) and then went to town!
