This cake turned out so pretty. Mendi and her sister made some gorgeous flowers to go on cupcakes and wanted a cake to match. So I told them the sizes I needed and they supplied me with the flowers! When I make flowers like these I roll my gumpaste VERY thin, use 3 different sized circle cutters and then “ruffle” the top edges with my rounding tool. To support them as they dry I use circles of crumpled saran wrap (or tin foil) like a nest to set them in. I used the smooth frosting technique (found under Tricks of the Trade”) before applying them. To attach pearls to the flower centers use meringue or gumpaste powder mixed with just enough water to make a glue.
