Superman Grooms Cake

January 10, 2013

Of course the Groom’s name is really Clark.

This is a great example of using different fondants for different reasons. I always choose homemade first because it tastes the best, works great for decorating that doesn’t have to stand up on its own, and is the cheapest.
Duff makes a great fondant that comes in all different colors but it does not dry hard and stiff, it is great for covering cakes because it has a nice stretch to it, and they have come up with nice flavors relatively. I only buy their Red and Black because I can make all my other colors with homemade.
Wiltons is great but dries out and can be really hard to eat. But it is fabulous for Flowers (like the yellow one here) or anything that has to dry hard and stay put. I also mix a little Wiltons in with homemade to get a little extra hold and stretch my Fondant $ further.
For my favorite homemade Fondant recipe go HERE.
