HOMEMADE FONDANT really is the best, it’s so easy to make and it keeps for weeks. For this cake I used a large marshmallow for the center of each topper so that it wouldnt be too heavy (Rice Crispy works great too.) If I want my decoration to dry stiffly (like the purple foam) I roll the fondant in gum paste powder before shaping it, then use saran wrap or pan edges to hold its shape until dry.
I thought these little smash cakes were really fun to make too! A fun summer theme.
