This cake was so cute. I colored the frosting for the base cake a darker shade of brown than the fondant I had cut the shape of the face from. (see Tricks of the Trade for a great Fondant recipe.) To make the Mane I used a number 5 tip from this set Ateco 6-Piece Pastry Tube and Tips Set for some reason I cant find that tip on its own. I started from the sides of the cake and worked my way towards the face, squeezing just a little frosting out then pulling back quickly to make the point. ... VIEW POST
Perfect Combo Cookies
I think these are MY personal favorites. The perfect amount of peanut butter, chocolate, and just enough oatmeal to be perfectly chewy and so delicious! I love them. The dough is amazing too! 1 cup softened butter 1 cup white sugar 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup peanut butter 1 or 2 tsp vanilla extract 2 eggs 2 cups flour (I used one cup flour and 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour) 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 cup rolled oats 1 cup chocolate chips 1 cup peanut butter chips ... Ruffle Cakes
This is one of my favorite looks. I rolled out a piece of fondant on a mat and covered it with plastic wrap so I could keep going back to cut my strips. I rolled it thin but not too thin, because once I cut my strips I needed to have enough fondant to "ruffle" on one side. I cut C shaped strips, about 1/2" wide, and used a rounded tool on one side of the strip, stretching it out a little to make my ruffle. The thicker side I applied to the cake, folding it down just a tiny bit so there ... VIEW POST
Mickey Mouse Party
I cant take any credit for this cute set up! I love how they put it all together. Here are The Cupcake Cake instructions. For the cupcakes I used regular and mini Oreos. I frosted the cupcakes with a circle for the "head" then to keep the mini oreo "ears" from tilting downward I put little dots of frosting at the top to balance them. It would be easy to transform this into Minni Cupcakes with a little red bow. ... VIEW POST
Baby Belly Part 3
This is part 3 of making a Belly Cake. To make the ribbon that went around the top of the belly I rolled out the MM Fondant and pressed a ruler into it, rolling it in to create an indentation for the second color to fit into. I rolled out my second color and instead of pressing I gently laid the ruler on top and cut a strip to place in the first color. Part 1 of making a belly cake is HERE Part 2 of making a belly cake is HERE ... VIEW POST
Make Basketball Cake Pops
To start here are some BASIC TIPS for cake pops. When I went to make these I didnt want to have squiggly lines so I used black fondant. (The photo above shows each step.) I rolled it very thin and cut 2 straight lines and 4 half circles for each pop. I put the straight lines around first and then placed the half circles on, snipping off the ends that overlapped. Because they are time consuming I mixed in some of the school colors. :) ... VIEW POST
