To make this Spider Cake I used an 8" round pan and then a basic metal mixing bowl that I had. It wasn't a perfect fit but it worked fine because I took some extra cake and crumbled it to fill in between the two layers and round up the top. The legs are the best part! I used Pokey Sticks (found in the Asian section of any grocery store) and cut them the length I wanted and glued them together with melted chocolate chips. I put them in the fridge until they were set and them put them on the ... VIEW POST
Christmas Cookies
I love the look of Royal Icing and this recipe is the best, but I also really love frosting on sugar cookies so I made these into "sandwich" cookies and then decorated the top. Go HERE for the Royal Icing Instructions. I used that exact recipe and then added just a few drops of water as I added the green gel coloring so that it would drizzle a little bit easier. I loved these trees because I didn't have to follow any perfect lines, just zig zagging! For the cookies I used a great recipe I found ... VIEW POST
Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies
My husband is the biggest cookie snob so when I made these last minute treats for my Church Choir I thought for sure he would notice they were from a box, but nope! He ate a stack of them and loved them. I have made some cake mix cookies before that were more "cake like" but these turned out soft, chewy and delicious! 1 box chocolate cake mix (I used Duncan Hines dark choc fudge) 1/2 cup oil 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract Mix together, it will be a little sticky so I just plopped each ... Baby Belly Cake

It didnt make a perfect dome but I just mixed a little cake and frosting to round the top off. I stacked and chilled the cake thoroughly then used a little carving knife to round the edges (I just took little at a time.) I gave the whole thing a good crumb coat then chilled it again. ... Belly Cake Part 2
I rolled my MM Fondant out and smoothed it gently over the sides leaving it loose along the bottom of the cake. I used a pizza cutter to trim it up and tuck it under the cakes where it needed to be fitted. I repeated the same process from Step 1 to make the "boobs." I covered them with a thin layer of flesh covered fondant, the mom to be was enjoying having some cleavage ;). As I moved the cakes to the final cake board I made sure they were CHILLED to avoid denting them. I criscrossed fondant ... VIEW POST
Monster Truck!
To make this tire I used Duffs Black Fondant, I really like the stretch it has and it is really difficult to color fondant black. For the top tier I used MM Fondant and I try to use that fondant whenever possible because it just tastes better and is much less expensive. ... VIEW POST
