Hello Kitty Cake

April 15, 2014

To make this I used a RICE CRISPY base. To make sure it was smooth I did a very thin base layer of fondant, rolling it gently with my fondant roller. This is really not a hard figure to make if you just get the basic head shape right. You can use pcp pipe or Wiltons Straws for the center. When I place a heavy topper like this on a cake I cut a piece of cardboard the size of the base, wrap it in saran wrap and then set it on top of 2-3 straws that I have cut and placed in the cake to support it. To make the skirt I used a heart shape cutter and ruffled the edges. Easy! I also used the Smooth Frosting technique and Homemade Fondant on this cake.
