Quilting for Cheaters :)

May 13, 2015

It’s not really cheating- just finding a better way! I love the quilted look but when I have done it in the past its a little stressful- having to mark and measure and get it EXACTLY even takes so much time, and once I have my cake covered in fondant, the LAST thing I want to do is start over when I mis-mark it. So I started using a plain ol square cutter- it works so well! You can see in the photo above how I just start layering the squares in.

When I get to the top I have to cut the squares down a little but I leave room between layers for my frosting to “connect” the cakes. You can use any kind of fondant-Homemade Fondant will give you a nice cream/ivory color or store bought is a nice bright white. (I combine the two to get just the right shade!)
