To make these snowflakes I just used Wiltons Melties. I filled a frosting bag half full of the melts, melted them in the microwave and then covered my cutting board in wax paper. I drew the basic out line with the melts and at first it did not look so great, all my lines showed so the next step was to tap my cookie sheet gently on the counter until my snowflake was smooth. Then I covered it in clear sanding sugar (the excess just shakes off) and let it harden. I was in a hurry so ... VIEW POST
Uncle Scott’s Hot Cocoa Mix
We named our first born son after this guy! And he makes a great Hot Chocolate Mix. Every winter when we visit they have huge containers of it and we just LOVE it. It can be tailored to taste by using different flavors of instant creamer- I love adding peppermint but to please the crowd at home I usually just add the vanilla flavored. Mix it all in a huge bowl and enjoy! Because of the instant milk we just add it to hot water. 10 1/2 cups powdered milk 1 six oz jar non dairy creamer (vanilla ... VIEW POST
Homemade Marshmallows
Once you try homemade it will be hard to ever go back to store bought. These took me about 20 minutes to make (they need time to set afterwards.) Easy and Delicious!! I love that they are not overly sweet- but that means its easy to keep eating them....and eating them. You dont need to add Almond extract, I just love the buttery almond flavor these had. You can add Mint, Coconut, Butter or really ANY extract- such possibilities!! 3/4 cup water 3 envelopes unflavored gelatin 2 cups ... VIEW POST
Beauty and the Beast
When I found out the theme of this party I was excited to come up with something really pretty and more feminine than just barrel cakes so I cut my 6" layers to start to form a "waist." (Of course this could be used for ANY princess cake!) I chilled it completely before frosting and stacking it. Then I got to work on the fun part! I started with white fondant cut into strips, then folded together gently to create ruffles. Once that was done I put strips of yellow ... VIEW POST
Russian Frosting Tips
I was so excited to order these, but it took just the right occasion to get me to start practicing, a sweet first birthday cake for my friends daughter. It turns out they are fairly simple to use, as long as your buttercream is completely smooth- the little tiny holes are unforgiving! I tried it using Swiss meringue and it worked great as long as I occasionally stuck the piping bag in the fridge to keep my hands from making it too warm, but a stiff buttercream is your best bet. These are the ... VIEW POST
Donut Hole Chicks
I was looking at those little fuzzy chick decorations (you know those funny little puffs that dont really look like chicks but are so cute?) and they gave me the idea to make these. They are silly looking- and sweet and I love them! Also- super simple which is nice. Take your STORE BOUGHT (oh yah) donut holes, dip them in yellow melties. They dont have to look perfect- you are going to cover them completely with frosting so it doesn't matter how they look. Glue the eyes (again, store ... VIEW POST
